Enforcing the Endangered Species Act

Broward Point Preserve would greatly appreciate your help and support in compelling our state and federal representatives to enforce the Endangered Species Act. You can do this by simply expressing your concern about natural wildlife habitats such as Broward Point to your local and Federal representatives and making your voice heard. We’ve made this easy for you by providing template letters for you to download and send as-is or customize with a personal note.

Your voice matters, our environment matters and our natural wildlife matters.

What We Are Doing

We are submitting a Federal complaint to have the land in the Broward County Preserve declared a critical habitat for the following species:

1. Florida Manatee (Endangered)
2. American Bald Eagle (Protected)
3. Gopher Tortoise (Endangered)
4. Red Fox
5. Coyote
6. Osprey
7. Brown Owl (Endangered)
8. Great Horned Owl
9. Red Cockaded Woodpecker (Endangered)
10. Racoon
11. Heron
12. Armadillo
13. Wood Stork (Endangered)
14. Egret
15. Cormorant
16. Eagles
17. Roseate Spoonbill

Who Enforces the Act?

The U.S. Supreme Court found that “the plain intent of Congress in enacting” the ESA “was to halt and reverse the trend toward species extinction, whatever the cost.” The Act is administered by two federal agencies, the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) and the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS).
